Durability is a system, not a material

Bright, even illumination and clear sightlines are functional requirements in public cars. Ceiling systems and finishes are selected to spread light and avoid dark corners, supporting both real security and the perception of it.

Weather and cleaning are design inputs

Open-platform stations expose cars to temperature swings, moisture, and salt; agencies clean aggressively. Materials and details are chosen against those realities — a finish that looks right on day one but cannot tolerate the cleaning regimen is the wrong finish.
